Glenn Hoddle Foooorehole Challenge

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle was the latest guest on the Foooorehole Challenge and he may have been our favourite guest yet! Tubes spoke to him about playing with Maradona, managing Gazza and his music career.

We visited the stunning Buckinghamshire Golf Club where Glenn shared some incredible stories from his playing and managing career.

The Spurs legend shared how players dealt with playing with Argentine legend Diego Maradona, the best player he’d ever played with and against. “I’ve never seen anybody be marked by two men. Two men followed him and tried to man mark him.” Watch Part 1 to hear more about his admiration for the one of the greatest players ever.

He also spoke about leaving Paul Gascoigne out of the 1998 World Cup squad when Glenn was manager of the national team, a decision which Glenn describes as one of his ‘saddest days in football’. “It was an injury reason why I left Gazza out, that was the only reason. The press didn’t want to hear that, it was a sensational story… Gazza didn’t take it particularly well, as you’d expect but it wasn’t all about one person.” He also spoke about the incident with Gazza reportedly smashing up a hotel room after hearing the news from Hoddle. “I think he’d put his fist through the door." Watch Part 2 to also hear about the pressures that come with managing England.

Tubes also had to ask about his music career which saw Glenn release the song ‘Diamond Lights’. “Top of the Pops was the most frightening thing I think I’ve ever done.” We’ll let Glenn tell the rest of the story but you definitely need to check out his performance on YouTube.

Both parts are incredible, full of brilliant stories. Subscribe to Tubes & Ange Golf Life for more great videos.
