Jamie Carragher - Messi or Ronaldo?

"He does things that professional footballers are open mouthed with. That's the best way to describe it."

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher joined Guillem Balague on this week's episode of the Pure Football podcast where they discussed the future of the game, his favourite MNF guests and where he stands on the Messi v Ronaldo debate.

The Sky Sports pundit spoke about how he feels he has the best job in the world on Monday Night Football and how lucky he is to work alongside top managers such as Pep Guardola & Mauricio Pochettino, and what they're like off camera.

Carragher was speaking about his new book, ‘The Greatest Game’ and picked out one game that surprised him most when researching the classic matches.

“The big one was Manchester United beating Bayern Munich in the Nou Camp in ’99 because that forever, anyone will tell you that Manchester United were the luckiest team alive and of course they had huge luck if you score two goals in the last minute of the game but they performed a lot better than what they’re ever given credit for.”

Amongst a chat about the greats such as Diego Maradona & Pele, Guillem asked Jamie’s thoughts on the Messi v Ronaldo debate and this is what he had to say:

As well as the greats of the past, they also spoke about the future of the game and what changes we might see in the future, including whether goalkeepers could take up more advanced positions.

Guillem also tells a story about the time he caused havoc amongst the Liverpool players after a story he wrote caused uproar at the training ground, but we'll let him tell that story!

It’s a great episode, listen to the full episode now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
