Max Aarons on Barcelona interest

Guillem chatted to Norwich City’s Max Aarons on the latest episode of ‘Can We Come In?’ on the Pure Football Podcast. The defender spoke about interest from Barcelona, playing for England Under-21’s & his new nickname from his teammates.

The Championship club reportedly rejected an offer from the Catalan club to take Aarons on loan after he made 36 appearances in the Premier League last season. He described it as ‘a crazy few weeks’.

“To be linked with the biggest club in the world, in my opinion, is something that was amazing. There’s going to be a time where I can speak about it in further detail...I couldn’t be disheartened or down about anything, I’ve got a job to do at Norwich”

Guillem also quizzed him on the reaction of his teammates who have now nicknamed him after the former Barca right-back Dani Alves by his teammates and manager after interest from the Spanish giants.

“As soon as it came out and everything and it was going on, I’d get the ball in training and people would be shouting, ‘Alves! Alves! And I’d kinda laugh, I had to laugh... Obviously that player is the player that I’ve looked up to for years as being the best in my position.’
